Ottawa Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards
October 1st, 2012 will be a day to remember for Dr. Supriya Mishra, owner and founder of visionTech4u. She was given the Women Entrepreneur Award at the first Ottawa Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards ceremony that took place in the city as part of the 1st Annual Ottawa Immigration Forum organized by the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP) and funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Dr. Mishra was selected among 51 other nominees in 5 different categories in recognition to her dedication and innovative spirit as a woman entrepreneur; her philosophy of “transforming ideas into achievements” is what has allowed her to do exactly that: think of ways to grow and help others grow through innovative solutions tailored to their needs.
Supriya’s IT consultancy firm visionTech4u, specialises in low budget IT solutions through Open Source technologies that address the needs of small local businesses and not-for-profit agencies with little resources to implement costly IT systems but that still need to have a web presence to reach out to their clients and stakeholders.
The award was presented by Mayor Jim Watson who pointed out in his opening speech that the awards “… are a chance to thank these risk-takers and entrepreneurs and to encourage young entrepreneurs” so, congratulations to all the award winners and to Dr. Supriya Mishra for being a risk-taker-young-woman entrepreneur making a difference in Ottawa.
